Alpacas originate in South America, and their fleece is highly valued by the clothing industry. With their soft padded feet these gentle animals are gentle on the land and environment. A member of the Camelid family the alpaca grazes at an altitude of about 3500 metres on the Altiplano, which runs through Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina.

Alpaca fibre was referred to as "Fibre of the Gods" by the Incas and only royalty was permitted to wear the luxurious fibre. It is silky-soft to the touch, is hypoallergenic, light weight and warm. One of the fabulous characteristics of the alpaca is it's vast array of natural colours, ranging from white through shades of fawn to a variety of greys and a true jet black.

We have a range of quality Australian made alpaca garments for sale, including jumpers, cardigans, scarves and beanies

Guests are welcome to join in feeding the alpacas late in the afternoon, usually about 6pm in summer and 5pm in winter. Our current herd numbers about 25, and there are usually young ones in the herd.
